Die Wahlheimat an norddeutschen Küsten mit ihren Städten und Inseln nutzt die facettenreich begabte Künstlerin Karin Wurlitzer sehr augenscheinlich für eine Malerei, in der es um Ordung von Flächen und Linien geht. Um die Übersetzung des Geschehenen aus dem realen Raum in einen neue spannungsvolle Farbkomposition im Abstraktum des Vierecks.
Es ist eine Malerei, die einerseits durch die bewusste Benutzung
von Motiven aus dem Alltagsgedächtnis Vertrautheit beim Betrachter hervorruft. Diesen aber andererseits zwingt, seine „Urlauberposition“ – falls vorhanden – zu verlassen und sich einzulassen auf die wirkliche Arbeitswelt der Malerin. Auf eine Kunstwelt eben, die nichts mit Gefälligkeit zu tun hat und haben will, auch nicht an der Ostseeküste.
